The Bay Area Air Quality Management District established the Spare the Air programs to educate residents about the effects of air pollution and encourage them to take action to improve air quality in the Bay Area.

Wood Burning Rule

From November to February, the Air District’s wood burning rule prohibits burning wood, firelogs, pellets, or other solid fuels in your fireplace or woodstove when a Winter Spare the Air Alert is in effect.  To learn more, follow these links.
