Southern Alameda County Air Quality Resource Team
The Southern Alameda County Air Quality Resource Team is the newest of the Spare the Air resource teams, but has been one of the most prolific teams. In 2005, the resource team hosted a business roundtable in Hayward featuring noted business columnist Rhonda Abrams; co-sponsored a Smart Growth Summit with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce in Fremont; and helped organize a Walk and Roll School Day event in San Leandro. In 2006, the Southern Alameda County Air Quality Resource Team plans to conduct additional business outreach that promotes the values of both businesses and the Spare the Air effort. In the spring outreach efforts are planned to businesses in the Ardenwood Technology Center in Fremont. In 2005, the first Great Race for Clean Air successfully engaged residents from throughout the Bay Area to use four modes of alternative transportation in four weeks. Teams from around the Bay raced to Pleasanton on October 6, 2005 to highlight creative and timely use of the multi-modal transit options that exist around the Bay. See the 2005 Team Southern Alameda/San Mateo! If you would like to join in the Team's efforts to promote commute alternatives and to reduce traffic congestion, please contact Jim Smith at (415) 749-4631.
