Tri-Valley Air Quality Resource Team
The Tri-Valley Air Quality Resource Team is pleased to announce the Great Race for Clean Air, a friendly competition between Tri-Valley area employers to encourage the use of commute alternatives to and from work. The Great Race for Clean Air will kick off with a Summit on the morning of June 12th at Oracle in Pleasanton. Starting August, 2008, the campaign will run for approximately two months.
In addition, this team is developing a Walk and Roll to School campaign for elementary schools in the cities of Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, and Livermore. This campaign is designed to educate Tri-Valley parents and students about clean and green alternatives for getting to and from school. In most communities, school-related traffic accounts for about 20 percent of morning peak-hour traffic. The goal of the Tri-Valley Resource Team’s Walk and Roll to School campaign is to reduce school commute traffic, which will result in reduced greenhouse gas emissions and increased safety around schools, and will also provide an opportunity for children to incorporate more exercise into their day. If you would like more information about the work of the Tri-Valley Air Quality Resource Team and the Great Race for Clean Air, please contact Stephanie Anderson at 415-975-2955 ext. 5, or sanderson@communityfocus.org.
