Contra Costa County

Resource Team

Idle Free Bay Area

The Contra Costa County Resource Team is part of the Idle Free Bay Area program, educating parents and community members about a simple way to save money, save gas, and reduce air pollution while waiting to pick someone up.

  • The County of Contra Costa and a growing list of towns and cities have made Idle Free proclamations.
  • Schools and youth groups have participated throughout the county.
    • Watch a news story about Pittsburg Unified School District’s Idle Free effort.

The Team continues to create new educational materials available for anyone to use. They can be found on the Resources page and include:

  • A template for a local government proclamation.
  • A one-minute video on idling that can be shared in newsletters or on websites.
  • A self-looping PowerPoint for TV screens in lobbies or on community television stations.
  • A clean air activity sheet available in multiple languages.

The Team may sometimes provide bookmarks, pledge forms, or parking signs for groups. If your school or organization would like to become involved, please contact at 510-246-8840 ext. 301 for information on resources that might be available.

Please consider taking the Idle Free Pledge

Water Conservation

The Team is developing materials to teach residents how using low-maintenance, water-conservation gardening techniques can also result in a reduction in air emissions, and how reducing water use also reduces energy use.

If you would like more information on the Contra Costa County Spare the Air Resource Team, or are interested in joining, please contact Stephanie Anderson at 510-246-8840 ext. 301.
