Air District Fact

Complaints are routinely received for many air contaminants which may include odors, smoke, dust, and/or fallout. During regular business hours, complaints are dispatched to an inspector as soon as received, or, with very few exceptions, no later than 30 minutes after receipt. This ensures a prompt, timely investigation while the event is in progress.

San Francisco County Resource Team

The San Francisco Spare the Air Resource Team is updating and working to promote its car-free website for visitors to San Francisco, with an eye to making it a great tool for the crowds of guests expected when San Francisco hosts the 2013 America’s Cup sailing competition. Many visitors to San Francisco choose to drive while abundant public transportation options exist – options that could save visitors both time and money. The team’s car-free project makes current information on City transit options accessible and user-friendly.

The team in 2011 has supported a summer bicycle safety rodeo for youth at Sunday Streets, put on by the Presidio Community YMCA Bicycle Program. It also helped the Bay Area Open Space Council expand its Transit & Trails smartphone app. The app, now available for iPhones, will be expanded to Android phones, and will add routes from many more transit agencies, to make it easier for people to get to trails and parks by bus and train. You can download the iPhone app for free. For more information about Transit & Trails and its interactive website, see www.transitandtrails.org.
