Conservation Tip

Most motorists don't realize that a quick one-mile trip to the dry cleaners emits up to 70 percent as much pollution as a ten-mile excursion with several stops. If Bay Area residents could cut their cold starts by 25 percent, we could remove up to 97 tons of pollutants from the air each day. What an achievement!

Santa Clara County Resource Team

The Santa Clara County Spare the Air Resource Team has worked to help employers reduce air pollution and commute-based traffic congestion for many years. The team has provided free workshops on commute solutions, developed the Commuter Choice Tax Benefits brochure explaining IRS tax code Section 132(f) benefits and provided free wi-fi routers as incentives for new vanpools.

In spring 2011, the team partnered with the County of Santa Clara Green Business Program to host a workshop to help employers learn more about green business certification and commute solution programs. The event featured guest speakers, panelists and fun door prizes. Click here for the flier and more information.

The team also supported Bike to Work Day energizer stations in Santa Clara County.

If you would like more information about the Santa Clara County Spare the Air Resource Team and its efforts to reduce traffic congestion, please contact Stephanie Anderson at 510-763-2500, ext. 1 or sanderson@communityfocus.org.
