Accelerated Permit Program

The Accelerated Permit Program allows a qualifying air pollution source or abatement device to be installed and operated under a temporary Permit to Operate, while the applicant waits for the formal permit to be issued. Under this program certain types of equipment can startup on the same day the permit application is filed. The District issues the formal permit to Operate after the evaluation process is complete.

Program Criteria

In order to take advantage of this program, the following criteria must be met:

Uncontrolled source emissions are less than 10 lbs per highest day or equipment is pre-certified,

Emissions of toxic compounds do not exceed trigger levels (most diesel engines will exceed the trigger levels) and,

Equipment is located more than 1,000 feet from a school.

Application Process

Applicants must submit a permit application consisting of:

  • Completed permit application form and source data form(s)
  • Certification that all Accelerated Permitting Program criteria are met
  • Payment of applicable fees

Air District authorizes applicant to immediately install and operate equipment.

Permit to Operate is issued within 35 working days of receipt of completed application.
