Mariposa Energy Project

(A Final Determination of Compliance was issued on 11/24/10.)

The District has issued a Preliminary Determination of Compliance for the proposed Mariposa Energy Project.   The Preliminary Determination of Compliance describes how the proposed Mariposa Energy Project would comply with applicable air quality regulatory requirements, and proposes permit conditions to ensure compliance.  The District is inviting public input and comment on the Preliminary Determination of Compliance.  The District will consider any public comments it receives and may then issue a Final Determination of Compliance.  The California Energy Commission would then use the Final Determination of Compliance in reviewing potential air quality impacts in its licensing proceeding for the proposed project.

The proposed Mariposa Energy Project would be a 200-MW natural gas-fired power plant located at 4887 Bruns Road in unincorporated Alameda County between Byron and Livermore.  The facility would consist of four simple-cycle combustion turbine generators and a fire pump.

Further information about the project and how it would comply with applicable regulatory requirements is available in the District’s Preliminary Determination of Compliance for the proposed project.  The Preliminary Determination of Compliance for the proposed project, proposed permit conditions, the permit application, and key supporting documents are available below and at the District’s Communications & Outreach Division Office located on the 5th Floor of District Headquarters, 939 Ellis Street, San Francisco, CA, 94109.  Copies of any of these documents and further information about the project can also be obtained by calling or writing Brenda Cabral, Supervising Air Quality Engineer, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, 939 Ellis Street, San Francisco, CA, 94109, (415) 749-4686, bcabral@baaqmd.gov.  Para obtener información en español, comuníquese con Brenda Cabral en la sede del Distrito, (415) 749-4686, bcabral@baaqmd.gov

The District invites all interested parties to comment on any aspect of the proposed Preliminary Determination of Compliance pursuant to District Regulation 2-2-405.  Written comments should be sent to Brenda Cabral, Supervising Air Quality Engineer, at the address above, and must be received by September 27, 2010.
