Particulate matter, or PM, consists of microscopically small solid particles or liquid droplets suspended in the air. PM can be emitted directly into the air, or it can be formed from secondary reactions involving gaseous pollutants that combine in the atmosphere.

The purpose of the Advisory Council is to advise and consult with the Board of Directors and the Air Pollution Control Officer. This includes studying and making recommendations on specific matters referred to the Council from the Board of Directors or the APCO including the technical, social, economic and environmental aspects of issues.
