Wood Burning Status

The 2009-10 Winter Spare the Air season ended on February 28. There is currently no wood burning ban in place.

The Bay Area burn status will be updated daily during the 2010-11 Winter Spare the Air season beginning November 1.

Director Michael Shimansky was appointed on January 30, 2005 to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District as a representative of Contra Costa County. While a member of the Board of Directors, Director Michael Shimansky served on the Budget and Finance, Climate Protection, Legislative, Mobile Source, Personnel, Public Outreach, and Stationary Source Committees providing steadfast leadership to protect public health and the environment. The Board of Directors and employees of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District will sincerely miss Director Michael Shimansky for his invaluable contributions, his support and service to the Air District, his character and charm, and his accomplishments and dedicated service to protecting and improving air quality, public health and the climate.
