Air Quality Advisory
Smoke from the Pacific Northwest wildfires is expected to impact air quality in the Bay Area on Tuesday and Wednesday. Residents in affected areas should stay alert to news coverage and health warnings related to smoke. Check air quality at fire.airnow.gov and take steps to protect your health from smoke. Learn how at www.baaqmd.gov/wildfiresafety. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

Environmental Justice Success Stories
Learn about James Cary Smith community grantees and program impact.
The James Cary Smith Community Grant Program supports community‐based organizations that build local capacity for environmental justice work.
The 2025-2028 grant cycle, also known as Cycle 2, is funding 12 organizations across the Bay Area. The program has funded a variety of organizations since it was launched in 2009. The Air District is partnering with third-party evaluators to assess impacts of the James Cary Smith Community Grant Program. The Air District is particularly interested in understanding how the grant program supports communities of color and communities disproportionately burdened by air pollution, or environmental justice (EJ) communities. Evaluation findings to date are in the documents below.
