How Heat Pumps Work

Heat pumps are an energy-efficient system installed outside of your home that can both heat and cool a home – all in one easy-to-use system.

Heat pumps are powered by electricity and use refrigerant to transfer heat rather than create it. They move heat from indoors to cool your home during the summer, just like a standard air conditioner. In the winter, they take heat from the outside air (even in cold temperatures) and bring it indoors to warm your home.

Because they move heat instead of generating it, heat pumps use significantly less energy than traditional heating and cooling systems and are an effective alternative to wood-burning devices, air conditioners, and furnaces, providing improved air quality and comfort all year round.
